Copper Eye Shadow

When an ultra-dark smoky eye seems too severe, opt for a toned-down metallic version like Lizzy Caplan's, which combines the sexy, smudgy allure of the original with a neutral color palette. At the Television Critics' Association Party in Los Angeles, Caplan's makeup artist Sabrina Bedrani stuck to warm copper and bronze tones to create the look. "To complement that beautiful dress, I decided to give Lizzy some brown smoky eyes," she said. "I used a mix of two colors from a Dior shadow palette, and blended them all the way to her brows." Bedrani added a smoldering effect by defining the star's eyes with a Chanel eyeliner, blending the color along Caplan's outer and inner lash line. Since the eyes made such a dramatic statement, Bedrani opted to keep the rest of Caplan's makeup in line with the earthy, neutral tones. A warm apricot blush and a tawny nude lipstick tied the look together.
