Both loose down ‘dos and polished updos alike can benefit from a simple braid. A plait is an easy way to add texture to an otherwise uniform style, and we loved the twisted additions braided into Olivia Munn’s pretty low bun. While the style may look intricate, it’s surprisingly easy to achieve. Her hairstlist Mika Fowler started by applying a leave-in conditioner to dry, blown-out strands, then separated Munn’s hair into front and back sections. She loosely twisted a French braid into each area before sweeping hair into a low ponytail. After a light mist of hairspray, Fowler used a one-inch curling iron to add movement to the star’s ponytail, then wrapped the ends into a bun. The result? An effortless updo with boho-inspired texture.
