Cat-eye liner has gotten major traffic on both the runway and the red carpet, but few have pulled it off as effortlessly—and bravely—as Katharine McPhee at the New Balance Experience Store opening in New York City. We love the way she lined only the top lid and left her lower lashline nearly bare. To get the look, start by lining your top lids, working from the center outward, jutting up the end toward the temple. Then line from the inner eye and fill in toward the middle (it helps to do it in two short strokes). Be sure to pull on your eyelid taut to best create a smooth, seamless line.
