Fishtail Braid

Even against her otherwise polished ensemble, the side-swept fishtail braid Stacy Keibler wore to the JCPenny event in Los Angeles held a certain boho-chic vibe. “We wanted to do something young and fresh to downplay the look of her blazer,” said Keibler’s hairstylist Luke Chamberlain. “We decided a messy fishtail braid was the perfect answer!” To start, Chamberlain applied a styling lotion to the star’s damp strands to give them grip, as clean hair on its own can be too slippery to hold the plait. He sectioned Keibler’s hair into a side-part, then began twisting the braid in the position he wanted it to fall. When recreating the look on yourself, don’t sweat the subtle imperfections—the slight wisps and carefree texture add to the unkempt air. “Once the fishtail braid was complete, I loosened it up with my fingers and pulled out some pieced to give it a young, modern feeling,” Chamberlain added.
