Graphic Ponytail

Between the wavy ends, deep side part, and slight volume at the crown, Gillian Jacobs’s ponytail mixes a number of different elements without looking busy. Thanks to the sleek texture on top, the style looks polished while maintaining a breezy, unfussy feel. “Keeping a dryer, more fly-away friendly texture allows this style to be a great look for both day and night,” said Jacobs’s hairstylist Marcus Francis. Francis started by adding a texturizing spray to damp strands, then used a round brush to blow hair out, keeping the roots flat. He then lightly teased the crown to add lift, and brushed hair into an extreme side part. “Deepening a part gives edginess and glamour to a style women know how to do themselves,” Francis said. “Sweep hair slightly further over your natural part, using the end of your eyebrow as a guide of where to section.” After securing strands into a ponytail, he used a half-inch curling iron to impart natural bends, then thickened the look by teasing and brushing out small sections. “This makes the ponytail feel fuller, and the flyaways balance out the matte texture throughout the hair,” he added.
