Winged-Out Eye Shadow

Elongated eye shadow may seem dated, but thanks to the muted tones and subtle blending in Lea Michele’s eye makeup, her look hits all the right notes. “Lea’s dress had a definite 70s feel, and I wanted her makeup to be fresh with a hint of drama on the eye,” her makeup artist Melanie Inglessis said. Inglessis began by blending a soft gold pencil onto the star’s eye to act as a base, then swept a shimmery berry pencil onto the outer corners of her eyes to create definition. “Be sure to blend everything in a back and forth motion to get rid of any harsh lines,” she advised. A quick sweep of dark powder shadow along the actress’s lash line helped to set the look, and added depth to the darker shades. A dab of copper shadow on the inner corners of Michele’s eyes and a few coats of mascara provided the finishing touch.
