Braided Bun

At the screening of La Revolution Bleue in New York City, January Jones added an extra twist to her high bun with a tousled French braid. We love how it added texture to her otherwise polished updo. Jones’s style may look complex, but it’s surprisingly easy to recreate—even if you’re a beginner. Try out her breezy look by sectioning off a portion of hair at the nape of your neck. Pull the rest of your strands into a high bun, and secure with hair pins. Be sure to use pins that are a close match to the color of your hair for a seamless appearance. Braid the section you separated, and tie off with a clear elastic. Pin your plait up in the back, then tuck the stray ends into your bun. Don’t worry if your braid isn’t perfect—the messy texture contrasts with the sleek bun and makes the look more modern.
