Blonds like Kate Hudson may have more fun, but when it comes to statement lipsticks, they tend to play it safe. At the Glamour Women of the Year Gala in New York City, makeup artist Julie Harris threw caution to the wind—to a gorgeous end. "I choose a bold red because I wanted to give Kate a more glamorous look. She has beautiful green eyes and red brings that out because it's a complementary color," she explains. Want to play with a crimson tone yourself? "Take skintone into account," Harris advises. "If you have warm undertones, choose a warmer red. If you have cooler undertones, I'd lean towards a red with a touch more blue."
