This isn’t your old-school hair mousse! While many consider the product to be dated, it acts as a great hair primer and gives your style long-lasting hold. To create Olivia Munn’s buoyant curls for her appearance on The Tonight Show, her hairstylist Mika Fowler used a light foam mousse by Joico on the star’s damp hair to prep the style. She applied the mousse to her mid-lengths and ends, then used a round brush to blow out the style. When left to air-dry, mousse typically gives your hair extra texture, but when used in conjunction with a blow dryer, you can mold your look into place while boosting volume. Plus, the lightweight formulas of today challenge the stiff versions from the ‘80s, which used to weigh down your style. Thanks to the extra grip, creating a defined curl was easy. Fowler loosely wrapped sections around a curling iron, then added a very light veil of hairspray to finish. Perfect!
