Sixties Cat Eye

As the saying goes, what’s old is new again, which certainly holds true for Sarah Hyland’s ever-stylish cat eye liner. At the Trevor Live event in Los Angeles, the actress channeled her inner Twiggy with a retro eye and pale lip. “Sarah said her pink Erin by Erin Fetherston dress reminded her of Jackie O and all things ‘60s,” said her makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan. “The bows on the back inspired us to keep her look youthful.” Deenihan used a gel liner and an angled brush to create the graphic liner, extending the inky black shade past Hyland’s eye, angled slightly upward. If you have trouble juggling a shadow brush with gel liner, opt instead for a liquid version with a felt-tip applicator, which helps create a crisp line. Rounded edges are the sworn enemy of a cat eye look, so if your ends look more dull than sharp, dip a pointed cotton swab into eye makeup remover to taper the wing into a precise point.
