Keira Knightley is known for wearing understated, elegant makeup, and true to form, her look at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of Anna Karenina was just that. We love the balance between her clean skin, natural-looking flush, and soft metallic eye, and how one element doesn’t completely dominate her face. Her makeup artist Gita Bass created the subtle eye look by first using eyeliner on Knightley’s upper and lower lash lines. “I lined the eyes by dotting the liner between the lashes, and smudged it with a soft brush,” said Bass. If you have trouble working with liners, take notethis helps to define the eyes minus the hassle of drawing on a precise shape. She then worked a shimmery cream shadow onto the star’s lids using her fingers. “This warms up the product and makes it blend seamlessly,” she added. Bass used a bronze powder shadow over that to deepen Knightley’s crease, then continued blending the color along the lower lash line. A few generous coats of mascara finished the look.
