The middle of April can be a tricky time for hairthe changes in weather make wearing a blowout difficult, and the tried-and-true top knot can get old after a while. Another easy option? Anna Kendrick's low-key plait! We love her braid's varied twists, and how the loose layers give the style a laid-back vibe. "We thought if we swept and braided the hair to the side, it would show off her neckline well," said Kendrick's hairstylist Craig Gangi, who drew inspiration from her necklace. To begin, Gangi wound sections of hair around a one-inch curling iron to impart a loose wave, then began twisting the braid. "I started loosely braiding hair from behind the ear, and continued around the back of the head, and down the side," he added. "I kept the braid loose to create that undone, effortlessly sexy look." If you're working with clean hair, spritz on a dry shampoo or texturizing spray to give the style some grip, as just-washed strands can often be too slippery. To finish, Gangi misted a light veil of hairspray over the plait to keep it intact.
