When in doubt, opt for a red lip! That’s what Hailee Steinfeld did to tie her look together at the Max Mara Women in Film event in Beverly Hills. We love how it made a bold impact, and gave her otherwise dark ensemble a summery splash of color. “We had been experimenting earlier in the day with some different lipsticks, and she really loved the red I put on her,” said Steinfeld’s makeup artist Jenn Streicher, who used a lip tar by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. “I worked the rest of her look around her red lip.” Since the color made such a statement, Streicher decided to go easy on the eye makeup, and framed the star’s face with groomed brows and a sheer wash of color on the cheeks. When recreating the look, make sure to apply a super-pigmented product like the one Steinfeld used with a lip brush to ensure a precise shape. Then, blend a concealer around your lips to clean up any smudges.
